Dillon recovers to boost Ballintubber

MAYO’S Alan Dillon recovered from a freak accident during the warm-up before Ballintubber’s SFC clash yesterday to come off the bench and guide the defending champions to a hard-fought victory.

The Mayo skipper was hit on the head by a football before the start of his club’s second-round encounter with Garrymore and was unable to start the game.

However, the 27 year-old came on in the closing stages to score a crucial point as Ballintubber dug out a 1-14 to 1-11 win over their South Mayo visitors.
