Majestic Moyle leave Exiles reeling

A four-goal blitz in the first half proved decisive as Moyle Rovers overwhelmed the Exiles.

Craig Lonergan and Danny Perry both registered a brace of goals to leave South London reeling 4-4 to 0-2 at the break.

Moyle Rovers started like a train in the second-half with Perry completing his hat-trick inside two minutes. Dara Ryan scored a late goal and David Roberts chipped in with two points to complete the rout.

South London registered two late goals to put some respectability on the scoreboard.

The second of the semi-final matches was a much tighter affair with St Mary’s defeating Athlone by 4-8 to 4-3 in a game that needed extra-time to decide the victors.

There was little to separate the sides throughout the match; Shawn Ó Murchú and Shaun Keena rattled the net for Athlone while points from Nathan Rooney, Kyle Cawley and Niall McDermott kept St Mary’s in the hunt.

St Mary’s were looking good for the win and led by 1-5 to 2-1 with moments remaining, but Richie Green fired the ball over the bar to send the game in extra time.

Two quick-fire goals from star forward Rooney and a three-pointer from Hadi Mousa, however, settled the contest on the resumption.
