St Val’s to tackle holders
Claregalway’s greater firepower proved the difference in their 4-3 to 0-2 penultimate win over The Banner. Roisín Holland had a major say for the Galway side (2-2) along with goal-getters Ciara Campbell and Rebecca Hansberry. They were also grateful to the steady influence of goalkeeper Natasha Hynes and full-back Karen Dowd.
The Banner battled all through, testament to this was a fine point from Aoibheann Malone late on.
In the second semi-final, St Val’s didn’t quite have it all their own way against a resilient Douglas team, winning 3-4 to 1-4.
Following an even opening half, St Val’s went in at the break 1-2 to 0-0 ahead thanks to a timely goal from Katie O’Sullivan on the stroke of half time.
While Douglas contested powerfully they were extremely unlucky in front of the posts while goals from O’Sullivan again and Nicola Dennehy put the game out of reach.
Meanwhile, Boherbue and Ferbane will contest the Division 2 final, while Lurgan and Clann Eireann make it an all-Armagh Division 3 decider. The Division 4 final sees Dungarvan take on Bandon.
Elsewhere, Amanda Bennett (Aghada), Megan Connolly (Nemo Rangers), Rebecca Hughes (Emyvale) and Aimee McErlean (Glen) will contest the Skills final.
