Gray: 50-year wait long enough for Dubs

IT’S been 50 years since Dublin won a Leinster SHC title, a 7-5 to 4-8 win over Wexford, and the time has come to end the wait according to Dublin’s goalkeeper Jimmy Gray in that 1961 win.

“I let in four goals, Pat Nolan let in seven, so between us it was a bit of a goal-fest!” he laughed.

“There are parallels now with ‘61 just like the team of today. That was a very good Dublin team and had been getting closer for a couple of years. We had so many marvellous players. Achille Boothman was up there with Eddie Keher and all those top players, absolutely brilliant, very skilful.
