Rossies and Galway in final

ROSCOMMON extinguished Mayo’s hopes of making it four Connacht minor titles on the trot in this entertaining provincial semi-final at MacHale Park yesterday.

Brothers Donal and Enda Smith were the heroes in a 3-8 to 1-8 victory.

Mayo got a dream start and had the ball in the Roscommon net within 15 seconds when Evan Regan drilled home. But the Rossies never panicked and recovered with a superb goal when Donal Smith set up his younger brother and the Boyle clubman blasted to the roof of the net after six minutes.
