Tricky Harrington proves Beara’s ace
A sparkling first-half display was the key to victory as the men in red and white raced into a five-point lead after seven minutes and stretched that advantage out to seven points by the interval (0-10-0-3).
Cork minor David Harrington was the star of the show for Beara as the tricky forward caused no end of problems for the struggling north Cork defence.
Harrington bagged five points from his right full-forward berth as well as being involved in most of what was good about his side’s attacking play.
Left half-back James Murphy also impressed along with full-forward Dean Murphy.
Although this fixture was always going the way of the victors the boys in green and white would have felt they were still in with a shout until goals from Kevin Goggin and substitute Jamie O’Sullivan in the last 10 minutes ended the game as a contest well before the final whistle.
Glanworth had their chances in the opening period but racked up too many wides — nine in all — in the first 30 minutes.
Midfield dynamo David Pyne was their main threat throughout but, unfortunately for the talented number eight, there was very little he could do to stop the rampant west Cork side from cruising into the next round.
