But the highly-rated full-back believes it’s no longer the case as Jim McGuinness’s hard-nosed side prepare to take on the three-time All-Ireland champions in Clones this Sunday. Mickey Harte has already given their new approach the thumbs up but it hasn’t met with universal approval. Indeed, McGuinness had defended it to the many critics in the media after their provincial quarter-final defeat of Cavan.

And it isn’t as if Donegal reinvented the wheel. In packing their defence when the opposition have possession, they are merely imitating predecessors, their next opponents among them.
