Cats legend turns back the clock for club
Carey hit 2-1 for Young Irelands of Gowran in a North JAHC tie against Tullaroan at Palmerstown.
While the former All Star and Kilkenny All-Ireland winning captain couldn’t save his team from defeat (2-20 to 3-11) he showed his talent for finding the net — and packing in the crowds.
Hundreds of people turned out for the tie and those who were there weren’t disappointed as the 40-year-old legend was in stunning form from play and placed balls.
One of the goals was a tremendous free from 20 yards which ripped past the defensive line and into the net.
Carey, who won five senior All-Irelands during a glittering career, is back to stay too. His plans are to continue for the season with Young Irelands, definitely at junior level and who knows, maybe with the intermediate side too.
