Brosnan goes on rampage
Having lost to Fr O’Neills at the initial hurdle, the All-Ireland junior champions made no mistake second time out. The importance of Brosnan to Meelin’s cause was underlined emphatically as the skilful corner-forward contributed 2-11 to the scoreboard.
Meelin went ahead early with points from Jeremy Curtin and Liam Collins while Brosnan added a penalty.
Jason Finn then performed the spadework for Andrew Shaughnessy to raise a green flag for Dromina.
However, Meelin were driven by the composed play of Shane O’Riordan and Brendan O’Sullivan and hit back with a goal and four points from Brosnan to leave the sides 2-9 to 1-2 at the break.
A trio of pointed frees from Donal Shaughnessy kept Dromina in pursuit but Brosnan and Jason O’Callaghan put Meelin in the comfort zone. The dismissal of Liam Hayes following two yellow cards added to Dromina’s bleakness as Brosnan wrapped up the win.
