No GAA comment on ‘paid players’ claim

THE GAA last night said they had no comment to make about a story in a national newspaper yesterday which claimed a number of unnamed inter-county players have been paid to play for clubs and counties.

The Association’s director of games administration and player welfare Feargal McGill said it wasn’t the GAA’s policy to respond to such reports.

“We don’t comment on stories with no names in them,” said McGill. “Anyone can write stories with no names in them.”
