Relief as crowd figures along expected lines

PROVINCIAL chiefs last night expressed a degree of satisfaction and little surprise with this weekend’s championship crowd figures.

It had been feared last week less than 35,000 would attend the Leinster SFC quarter-final double-header in Croke Park yesterday but the official figure was given as 41,786.

A combined total of 10,165 attended the Munster semi-final games between Kerry and Limerick (6,800) and Cork and Waterford (3,365).
