“We must drive on,” says captain Michael Boyle. “That was the plan with John Meyler for the last couple of years, he’s been aiming to get us in to the Munster championship. We’re not ready now but it’s going to come. Kerry hurling is on a high, winning U21B titles back-to-back; this was coming, things are working out.”

Meyler himself isn’t certain what Kerry should do, suggests that there should be further options for teams at that level. “Even before this game I said we’d have to sit down with the county board, with the clubs, with the GAA itself and sort this out — what are we going to do?
