Man arrested after ref assault

A MAN has been arrested after a GAA referee was allegedly assaulted during a minor football match in Monaghan.

Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his 50s, believed to be a former Monaghan footballer, was arrested and questioned about the incident.

A Garda spokesperson said the man was released and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
