But ask Maurice Horan about the mood in the Limerick camp ahead of Saturday’s Munster semi-final against Kerry and the Limerick boss radiates enthusiasm.

“These lads are real slow burners, it seems to be the way that they start the year slowly and then really get into it as the season progresses. With the long evenings at training, you can see they’re definitely enjoying it more. In relation to the knocks they’ve taken over the years with defeats in championship, I think that just makes them more determined really. These lads keep coming back more and more. There is still a huge desire in them.”
