Courceys power to victory

A FINE second-half display from Courcey Rovers saw them power past Inniscarra in the opening round of the Cork PIHC at Páirc Uí Rinn last night.

Courceys power to victory

Trailing by two points at half-time after Aidan O’Mahony’s 29th-minute penalty gave Inniscarra the lead, Courceys looked set for a testing second half, but instead they steamrolled their opponents, limiting them to a point before O’Mahony’s second penalty in the last minute.

Courceys’ left flank provided most of the impetus, as left half-forward Dáire Lordan scored 11 points and was deadly from placed balls. Inside him, Seamus Hayes was extremely dangerous, scoring eight times, all from play, and unlucky not to score a goal.
