Hearty blames RTÉ for Champions League final clash

The Crossmaglen man believes the national broadcasters’ power combined with an Orange march in Markethill in Armagh earlier in the day prevented the Ulster Council from moving the 7.30pm throw-in time, which comes quarter of an hour before kick-off at Wembley. “There was a bit of bad planning but television rules the roost now, these RTÉ boys, and they have their double schedule on the Sunday as well (Dublin v Offaly, Tipperary v Cork) so they couldn’t really change it. There is an Orange march earlier in the day so that might have been afactor too.

“The true supporters will go to support the team and hopefully the Athletics Grounds will be packed to capacity.”
