Despite the poor weather there was a very big attendance to mark the official opening of the magnificent new clubhouse, jointly performed by GAA president Christy Cooney and former president Sean Kelly.

Cork got off to a flyer with Michael Cussen going through for a goal of sublime quality inside 40 seconds. It was to be the start of a top-class display by the rangy corner-forward who was easily his side’s most threatening attacker throughout.
