THE GAA’s director of games administration and player welfare Feargal McGill has called on the Waterford County Board to help the association come up with a workable solution to avoid fixture headaches like this Sunday — because he admits Croke Park haven’t been able to.

Waterford board chairman Tom Cunningham described as “crazy” the fact the Déise and Offaly footballers are playing in Dungarvan the same afternoon as the county’s hurlers face each other in Tullamore.

“It’s a crazy situation. We met the CCCC before the league and informed them about the situation. They said they would look into it but we heard nothing since then,” Cunningham told the Irish Examiner yesterday.
