Canty’s White House snub angers Cork

CORK County Board have called for fair play after All-Ireland-winning captain Graham Canty was snubbed for a trip to America on St Patrick’s Day.

Tipperary’s All-Ireland-winning hurling captain Eoin Kelly was invited to the White House to meet Barack Obama along with footballer of the year Bernard Brogan but there was no invite for Canty.

Cork PRO Ger Lane said: “We don’t know what the criteria was but we can confirm that Graham was not invited. I suppose we’d be saying it should be like with like. If it was the captain of Tipperary it should be the captain of Cork too. If it was player of the year in hurling it should be player of the year in football.”
