Laois boss pays tribute to diamond Geezer

KILDARE-LAOIS has a resonance of its own but there is an extra ingredient in the bubbling pot for Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 2 derby in the form of the managers.

Justin McNulty and Kieran McGeeney grew up together in Mullaghbawn, won an Ulster championship with the club, soldiered for a decade with Armagh as McGeeney captained them to All-Ireland glory in 2002 and finished their careers with Na Fianna in Dublin.

They are very close friends, to the extent that McNulty asked McGeeney for advice about the nature of inter-county management when considering the Laois opportunity.
