Rebels make three changes for Déise tie
Eoin Cadogan’s switch to the footballers this weekend means Eoin Dillon takes the full-back spot while Brian Murphy takes Ray Ryan’s left-wing back position. Lorcan McLoughlin comes in for Jerry O’Connor at midfield.
After impressing for the most part the last day out when five of the six forwards were on the scoresheet, the attack remains intact while Pa Cronin is given another opportunity to show his capabilities in his new midfield berth.
Similar to Cork, Tipperary manager Declan Ryan has tweaked a winning side for their round 4 game against Offaly, last year’s All-Ireland winning captain Eoin Kelly one of three new faces from the side that beat Waterford in Thurles last Saturday.
Replacing Brian O’Meara, Kelly teams up with his older brother Paul in the full-forward line for Nenagh on Sunday, while Loughmore-Castleiney’s Eddie Connolly is handed his league debut at corner-back instead of Paddy Stapleton.
Shane McGrath sees his spot at midfield taken up by Gearóid Ryan. Benny Dunne comes into the half-forward line.
Offaly will be without forwards Ger Healion and Shane Dooley for the game. Healion tore his hamstring in the defeat to Dublin last weekend while Dooley will take some time to recover from the serious ear injury he picked up in the same game.
Meanwhile, Dublin’s hopes of reaching a Division 1 final has been hit by a flu bug in the camp. David O’Callaghan is rated as a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Wexford because of the virus while Conal Keaney couldn’t train on Tuesday evening due to the same complaint. Declan O’Dwyer is out for another four weeks afterdamaging his hamstring while Maurice O’Brien’s expected comeback from injury has been further delayed as his ankle injury has flared up again.
