Carlow skin Cats alive

CARLOW’S U21 footballers will have learned precious little from this 39-point thrashing of neighbours Kilkenny in this championship quarter-final mis-match at the IT grounds in Carlow last night.

Carlow skin Cats alive

Carlow had stormed 3-5 to nil in front before wing forward Conor Foley recorded Kilkenny’s only score of the game from play, a well-taken point on 18 minutes.

By half time the Cats trailed 3-11 to 0-1. The pain continued for the visitors throughout the second half with 11 players sharing in the scores, including all six starting forwards.

Kilkenny’s lone second half score was a 41st minute goal from a penalty by Andy Kavanagh. But there was an avalanche of scores from Carlow who hit 5-9 in the half.
