Derry rally to shock victory

A REMARKABLE second-half comeback saw Derry claim a shock victory over Armagh at windswept Celtic Park last night.

Derry rally to shock victory

Armagh established an early four-point lead thanks to Caolan Rafferty’s goal. Benny Heron grabbed a goal back for Derry but Aidan Forker and Gavin McParland rattled the net in the space of a minute as Armagh led by 3-1 to 1-2 after 23 minutes. Cailean O’Boyle fired over three unanswered scores for Derry before the break, then burst through for a goal a minute into the second half.

Three quick points saw Derry led 2-9 to 3-1, before although points from McParland and Stefan Campbell closed the margin to a goal. But a late point from Daniel Jackson eased Derry nerves as Armagh’s Forker was sent off for a second yellow card late on.
