Abbey’s late drive stuns Carrigaline

A LATE fightback saw Abbey CBS overcome Carrigaline to claim Corn an Uachtaráin (Munster senior B football) glory in the final replay at Fermoy yesterday.

Abbey’s late drive stuns Carrigaline

Trailing 1-10 to 1-6 after a brilliant point from Michael Lynch in the 55th minute, and also a man down, Abbey looked beaten, but a goal from sub Eoin Riordan got them back into it and then Niall Daly and Kevin O’Donovan pointed to complete the turnaround.

The first half was dull but an excellent sideline from Lynch in the 29th minute gave Carrig a 0-3 to 0-2 lead at the break. On the restart, Carrig seized the initiative as Killian McIntyre pointed and Jamie De Puis then found the net. When Lynch converted a long-range free, it was 1-5 to 0-3.
