Jedward home at Croke Park

JEDWARD’s performance at this evening’s Allianz League double-header in Croke Park will be a sort of homecoming for the twin brothers as their father is a long-standing steward in the stadium.

John Grimes is an active member in Lucan Sarsfields where he is the Junior A hurling manager and has been a matchday usher for a number of years now.

“Their father John has been with us for quite some time,” revealed Croke Park director Peter McKenna. “They’re coming home as it were. We’d only be too happy to have them as stewards as well!”

Ticket sales for Dublin’s two games are believed to have picked up over the last couple of days. With over 30,000 tickets already sold, GAA sources are hoping more than 40,000 will attend the fixture but McKenna is praying for a dry evening to maximise the atmosphere at the game.

McKenna allayed any fears about the condition of the pitch, which took a heavy footfall following four All-Ireland club final games last weekend.

“The pitch will be 100%,” he said.
