Sparks fly as Brolly and Cusack clash on GPA issue

The fundraiser, organised to benefit Cork’s Mercy Hospital and Glen Rovers hurling club, featured former Derry footballer and RTÉ pundit Joe Brolly and Cork hurling goalkeeper and GPA chief executive Donal Óg Cusack.

Brolly, who is well known for his forthright opinions and distaste for the player association, clashed with Cusack, who defended the GPA in equally combative terms, with the capacity attendance weighing in noisily on both sides of theargument. The debate also featured such well-known figures as broadcaster George Hook and Micheal Ó Muircheartaigh, hurlers Tomas Mulcahy and Henry Shefflin, Gaelic footballers Darragh Ó Sé and Brian Mullins, rugby players Moss Finn and Jerry Flannery.
