Free-scoring Derry give Armagh lesson

DERRY got their league campaign off to the perfect start with a 3-16 to 0-15 point win over Armagh at Banagher.

A goal from Alan Grant gave the Oak Leafers a 1-8 to 0-7 point interval lead and two more green flags from Paddy McLoskey and Rory Convery, the second from a penalty ensured the win.

Kehoe Cup winners Meath were surprisingly beaten by London at Ruislip by 1-13 to 1-8, Martin Finn getting the Exiles’ goal.

Mickey Cole was the Royals goalscorer who finished with 14-men after Ger O’Neill was sent-off late on.

Wicklow scored a fine 2-15 to 0-18 points win over neighbours Kildare at Arklow with goals from Johnathen O’Neill-who finished up with 1-8 and Conor Kelly the goalscorers.

In Division 3B, Louth hammered Sligo 3-20 to 0-5 points at Darber with goals from Darren O’Hanrahan, Shane Callan and sub Aidan Callan.

The all-Connacht clash of Mayo and Roscommon at Tooreen went the formers way with dual star Keith Higgins the star of the show with 0-9 points from midfield.

Mayo led 0-7 to 0-4 at the break in a game that saw four players sent-off, three for Roscommon and one for Mayo.

In the final game in Division 3B, north Dublin side Fingal accounted for Monaghan at Swords by 4-18 to 0-13 points.
