Purcell shows way for Laois

Inspired by a fine performance by corner forward John Purcell, Laois led by 1-9 to 0-5 at the break, with Purcell grabbing the only goal after just five minutes.
Westmeath were well off the pace and never looked likely to drag themselves back into contention.
Despite finishing the game with 12 wides, Laois ran out very comfortable winners with Matthew Whelan, James Walsh, Willie Hyland, John Brophy, John Purcell and substitute Owen Holohan all impressing.
