THE Ulster Council have fast-tracked the concluding stages of the weather-delayed Dr McKenna Cup competition after both Cavan and Tyrone agreed to play their semi-final tie on Wednesday, February 9.

McKenna Cup tie rescheduled

The agreement was reached followed consultations with board officials from the Breffni and Red Hands counties and paves the way for the final to take place on Saturday week, February 12.

Next Wednesday’s semi-final will take place in Brewster Park in Enniskillen at 7pm with the winners facing Derry in the decider at a venue to be confirmed. The Ulster Council have encountered serious difficulties with the competition this season as freezing weather conditions caused chaos with their effort to run off the round-robin stages of the competition.
