Erne chief slams online ref abuse

Erne county chairman Peter Carty made his comments at the county convention after top Erne whistleblower Noel Davis revealed he was called “scum” on the site. Davis said there “was nothing more hateful than to get a telephone call from your daughter saying ‘Daddy you are not a scum’. And that is exactly what I was called.”

Carty said: “I am especially annoyed by a recent development of attacking referees via the media. I do hope there will be no repetition of such cowardly behaviour.

“Referees make great efforts to be available to take charge of games and we applaud them for taking on what can be a difficult task.”

Elsewhere Derrygonnelly Harps piloted a motion calling on the GAA to set up a bank that could provide loans for individual members.
