Howlin enters presidency race

LEINSTER Council Chairman Sheamus Howlin is set to be the fourth candidate to challenge for the post of GAA President at next April’s Congress in Mullingar.

Howlin enters presidency race

Howlin had his nomination unanimously approved at Wednesday night’s county convention after being proposed by county board chairman Ger Doyle. Howlin has been a long standing member of the Leinster Council and has previously served as chairman of the Wexford County Board and the GAA’s Overseas Committee in Croke Park. He will now enter the race to take over the reins from current GAA President Christy Cooney with former Munster Council chairman Con Hogan (Tipperary), former Leinster Council chairman Liam O’Neill (Laois) and former Ulster Council President Tom Daly (Donegal).

Wexford’s convention also passed a motion at their convention calling for replays at inter-county senior championship level.
