LEINSTER COUNCIL officials will decide today whether the weekend’s senior hurling and football provincial finals can proceed as planned.

Officials were in contact yesterday with county administrators regarding the situation on the ground at the relevant venues while also keeping one eye on temperatures which have risen marginally in recent days.

Carlow’s Dr Cullen Park is due to host the meeting of Kilkenny’s O’Loughlin Gaels and Oulart The Ballagh of Wexford in the hurling decider, while O’Moore Park is poised to provide the setting for Dublin’s Kilmacud Crokes and Offaly champions Rhode in the football equivalent.
