Dr Crokes leave it late to win title
The Killarney side who contest a Munster Club SFC semi-final on Sunday clinched their fifth East Kerry senior football championship title in a row but not without late drama against Rathmore on Saturday
A Conor O’Sullivan point in injury time looked to have secured a replay but Dr Crokes mounted one last attack which ended with man-of-the-match Chris Brady fisting over the winner for a 0-11 to 1-7 win. It was the young Crokes forward who scored his side’s only points from play in the first half, after which they led 0-4 to 0-3. Colm Cooper also kicked two frees. Crokes scored one point in the first 28 minutes after which Rathmore led 0-3 to 0-1, with John Buckley, Michael O’Riordan and John Moynihan on target.
