Dwyers point way for Bally

A SCRAPPY encounter in this Munster club IHC semi-final in Ballyagran yesterday, but a dominant second-half performance was enough to see Ballymartle qualify for the final against Tipp side Borrisokane in Mallow on Sunday week.

Dwyers point way for Bally

The Cork side had the better start, two points on the board within three minutes from centre-forward Brian Corry and free-taker Barry Dwyer, but given the wintry conditions this was never going to be a scorefest.

Thus it proved, no score by either side for another 15 minutes, and then it was the experienced Ruari Dwyer extending the Ballymartle lead with a fine strike. Eventually, in the 18th minute, Hospital-Herbertstown did manage to score, a pointed free by corner-forward John Fitzgerald, but in truth, they should already have been on the board, midfielder Donie Reale wasting a 20m free which was saved by Seamus Corry.
