GAA Player of the Year Awards shortlist

THE shortlist for the Voadfone GAA Player of the Year Awards were announced yesterday. Bernard Brogan (Dublin), Daniel Hughes (Down) and Michael Shields (Cork) are in contention for the Footballer of the Year while Aidan Walsh (Cork) Peter Kelly (Kildare) and Graham O’Reilly (Meath) are in the running for the Young Footballer of the Year.

Tipperary’s Lar Corbett is nominated for the second year running as Hurler of the Year alongside his fellow county-man Brendan Maher and Kilkenny’s Michael Fennelly. Midfielder Maher is also nominated for the Young Hurler of the Year award alongside his fellow Tipperary man and current holder of the award Noel McGrath and Waterford’s Noel Connors. The winners will be announced on RTÉ One tonight from 7pm.
