Cummins: ‘It was like hearing of a death in the family’

TIPPERARY goalkeeper Brendan Cummins has described the announcement that Tipperary’s management team of Liam Sheedy and his selectors Eamon O’Shea and Michael Ryan are to step down “as like hearing of a death in the family”.

Cummins: ‘It was like hearing of a death in the family’

“That was nothing to its impact on the team. “It was like hearing of a death in the family. Like many of the lads, I was looking forward to getting a phone call from Liam and his management team about preparations for 2011 — the last thing I expected was to be told there was going to be a change in management.

“It’s a massive blow. The intensity he brought to the whole thing, himself, Eamonn and Michael, with Cian O’Neill as trainer — they put six years work into three years.”
