Kildare website proves a hit with Lilywhites

LILYWHITE GAA chiefs have hailed the success of Kildare.tv which is attracting 1,500 hits a day.

Kildare.tv is the brainchild of Len Regan and he approached county chairman Padraig Ashe with a proposal that would provide the board with a new way of promoting the association.

Kildare.tv can be found through the revamped Kildare GAA website (www.kildaregaa.ie) and Ashe sees it as an opportunity to spread the word about the GAA brand.

Ashe said: “We’re assessing it as it goes on. There are issues with regards to rights and there’s little you can do at inter-county level. Even with the club games, we’re not sure we could show the county final as TG4 have the rights. These things must be clarified.”

Ashe said: “I like what can be done from the human interest side of things, such as taking a development squad from a standing start and following them all the way to the time they reach minor level. There would be so many stories there on a human level, while you’d also get to see the dedication and sacrifice of players and volunteer coaches. We are happy with the new website and see it as a way of keeping the public up to date.

“It must be the first stop shop for people if they want to get news about the GAA.”
