County board hopeful Counihan will stay on in job
Counihan took the managerial reins at the start of 2008 and his official term of office came to an end with the conclusion of the 2010 season yesterday. He will be offered a new term and O’Sullivan hopes he will accept it.
“Every All-Ireland-winning manager in Cork always gets offered another term to stay in charge. That’ll be no different with Conor. It’ll be up to him then whether he accepts it. But certainly I will be hoping he will. He has done a fantastic job in charge, as have all the management team with him. “But that’s a matter for the county board to deal with later in the year. For now we’re just overjoyed at having won the All-Ireland. This group of players and management have been through an awful lot of tough times. You don’t always get what you deserve in sport but if ever there was a team that deserved an All-Ireland, it was this Cork team.
