DUBLIN GAA chiefs are to launch an investigation into an alleged attack on a referee after a senior football championship game on Wednesday night.

The alleged incident occurred after St Peregrine’s defeated St Anne’s, 1-10 to 0-12 at Newcastle.

It is claimed that referee Philip Fitzsimons was verbally abused and spat at following the game which was decided by a late penalty.
