Lar continues CBS record

THERE were plenty of smiling faces in Thurles CBS yesterday after the Premier County’s All-Ireland SHC final victory over Kilkenny.

Not alone is there a cross-border mix of students and teachers in the famed school but Lar Corbett’s man of the match performance continues an interesting trend for past pupils.

Last year’s Kilkenny’s PJ Ryan collected the honour while in 2006 the school recorded a double with another Kilkenny man, Aidan Fogarty, named man of the match in the senior game while Tipperary’s Pa Burke received the accolade after the minor decider.
