Red star with Sky Blue roots

ON Sunday he will be amongst the Cork ranks in Croke Park, but Alan O’Connor’s formative years as a footballer signalled that his career was destined to be spent with the Rebels All-Ireland semi-final opponents Dublin.

O’Connor was born in Dublin in 1985 and it was in the Lucan Sarsfields club where his GAA talents were first nurtured at a young age.

O’Connor featured for the club up until the U14 grade when his family moved to his father’s home parish of Kealkil in West Cork.
