WATERFORD manager Davy Fitzgerald said an accident involving Ken McGrath’s daughter on Saturday had put his side’s All-Ireland SHC defeat to Tipperary into perspective.

It is understood McGrath’s daughter was bitten by a dog in Waterford and brought to Cork for surgery. And yesterday Fitzgerald revealed the Mount Sion veteran had not been told about the accident before the game at the McGrath family’s request.

Fitzgerald said: “I don’t think he was told. Whatever about hurling, the most important thing is your family. Please God that she will be okay on that front.
