Walsh can’t see Tipp or Waterford derailing Cats

The Cork boss was asked, in the wake of the Cats’ demolition of his side yesterday in Croke Park, if he could see Kilkenny being beaten as they seek a historic five in-a-row. “Truthfully, I don’t,’’ he said. “Tipperary and Waterford will take a bit out of each other next week, I’m sure, and whoever comes through will relish the challenge. But we relished the challenge coming up here and we fell well short.”

Walsh gave credit to Kilkenny for a “massive” performance. “I wouldn’t say that Cork under-performed. It was a massive 15-man performance from Kilkenny again and I’d absolutely be giving them due credit because I’m a believer that you can do all the preparation in the world but you must go out and do it between half three and five o’clock.
