Blow for Tipp as Kerwick out
“He’s had a niggling injury that we just can’t get rid of. It’s really, really disappointing for him — he played in the All-Ireland final last year and we all saw the guy had real potential. I’d say his season could be at an end. It’s up in the groin area, he’s had numerous scans. We don’t think it’s going to come right — surgery is probably the only option.”
Kerwick, nominated for an All Star last year, made his senior debut in the Waterford Crystal Cup in 2006, aged 24, then had to wait a further two years before seeing real action, in the National League, winning a medal with Tipperary in 2008. He made his championship debut that same season, against Cork in the Munster semi-final.
All this season, however, he has been plagued with that hamstring/ groin injury, making only a couple of cameo appearances. Better news, however, on Lar Corbett and Mickey Cahill. “Lar should be okay. Obviously his shoulder is a bit sore since the quarter-final but he should be okay, and all going well he’ll be back — Michael Cahill likewise. Everyone else is reasonable.”
