Premier keep the faith

TIPPERARY boss Liam Sheedy has kept faith with the starting 15 that defeated Offaly in last weekend’s All-Ireland SHC qualifier for Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Galway in Croke Park.

That means no place again for attacker Seamus Callanan who was introduced during last Sunday’s clash and has to be content with a place on the bench this time around. The team features five players who will be in action for the county U21 hurling side in next Wednesday’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21HC final against Clare, in Michael Cahill, Padraig Maher, Brendan Maher, Patrick Maher and Noel McGrath.

Cork manager Conor Counihan has opted to make no changes to his side for tomorrow evening’s All-Ireland SFC Qualifier round 4 tie against Limerick from the outfit that defeated Wexford in last Sunday afternoon’s qualifier tie. Attacker Paul Kerrigan and midfielder Nicholas Murphy are once more kept in reserve for this match. Injury doubts surrounding defensive duo Jamie O’Sullivan and Paudie Kissane have cleared up, while Alan O’Connor is also fit to take his place at midfield from the start.

Sligo make one change in the team to play Down in tomorrow’s All-Ireland SFC Qualifier round 4 at Kingspan Breffni Park. Eugene Mullen replaces knee injury victim Tony Taylor at midfield. Down’s footballers are boosted by the return of Daniel Hughes and Daniel McCartan to their starting line-up to face Sligo, which sees Darren O’Hagan and Aidan Carr both drop to the bench.

Kildare boss Kieran McGeeney has also gone with an unchanged line-up, naming the same team that took to the field againstDerry last week for their All-Ireland SFC Qualifier round 4 against Monaghan at Croke Park tomorrow. Tomás O’Connor’s participation in the full-forward line must be in some doubt however, as the big Clane man was forced to leave the fray in the ninth minute of the Lilywhites’ 11-point victory at Celtic Park with a knee injury.

Louth footballers have made one change to their side ahead of tomorrow’s big qualifier clash with Dublin. Stephen Fitzpatrick, son of manager Peter, comes in for wing-back Ronan Greene whom he replaced in the early stages of the Leinster final.

Meanwhile, Cork manager Denis Walsh has promoted Ray Ryan and Paudie O’Sullivan to his starting 15 for Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Antrim at Croke Park. Ryan, who was introduced during last Saturday’s Munster final replay defeat by Waterford, comes in at left-half back in place of Shane O’Neill, who is ruled out with a hamstring injury. Up front, O’Sullivan, who was also introduced last weekend, starts at right corner forward with Patrick Horgan the player to make way. Seán Óg Ó hAilpín is still ruled out with a hamstring complaint, but Ronan Curran, who had to retire against the Déise after sustaining a dead leg and was replaced by William Egan, is named in his customary centre-back position.

There is one positional change which sees Michael Cussen and Niall McCarthy swap places on the half forward line with 6’7” Cussen moving inside to the centre and McCarthy now on the wing. Antrim boss Dinny Cahill has kept faith with the same starting 15 that faced Dublin in last Saturday’s All-Ireland qualifier for Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Cork.

Waterford have made one change in personnel for Sunday’s ESB All-Ireland MHC quarter-final against Galway in Croke Park from the team that were defeated by Clare in the Munster decider. Colm Curran returns to the starting line-up at left half-forward with Martin O’Neill the player to lose out. A positional change sees Jake Dillon move from wing-forward to the left-corner to take over from O’Neill.
