Cussen replaces hamstring-hit Jerry O’Connor in the starting side selected by manager Denis Walsh, with Niall McCarthy moving into centre-forward and Cussen starting on the left wing. Despite intense speculation over the fitness of Sean Óg Ó hAilpín, the Na Piarsaigh man has been named at left half-back. Opponents Waterford have also made just the one personnel switch with Seamus Prendergast brought into the team.
Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has made four changes for Sunday’s Ulster SFC final against Monaghan from the semi-final clash with Down. Three of the switches come in defence with Cathal McCarron starting his first championship match at right corner-back instead of hamstring victim Martin Swift, while Ryan McMenamin comes back into the team at left corner-back instead of Dermot Carlin while Davy Harte replaces his cousin Peter Harte at right half-back. The final alteration comes in attack as Tommy McGuigan starts at full-forward instead of Stephen O’Neill, who sustained a bruised heel during the victory over Down. Seamus McEnaney will name his Monaghan starting side tonight.
Tipperary have made two changes in personnel for Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC qualifier against Offaly in Portlaoise. Paddy Stapleton and Paul Curran both return at right corner-back and full-back, respectively, with Conor O’Brien and Seamus Callanan the two players to make way. Positional switches see Michael Cahill go to left corner-back, Declan Fanning move to right half-back, David Young switch to midfield and Shane McGrath shifted into centre-forward.
Dublin manager Anthony Daly has kept faith with the team that defeated Clare last Saturday for tomorrow’s All-Ireland SHC qualifier with Antrim tomorrow.
Cork football boss Conor Counihan has gone with an unchanged side for their All-Ireland SFC qualifier round 3 clash against Wexford on Sunday. Despite injury concerns to midfielders Alan O’Connor and Aidan Walsh, both are picked in the starting side while attacker Paul Kerrigan has recovered from a hamstring injury to take his place on the bench.
Kildare midfielder Dermot Earley has been named at midfield for their All-Ireland SFC qualifier with Derry in Celtic Park tomorrow night, despite suffering from a knee injury. Manager Kieran McGeeney has named the same team that started last weekend’s qualifier win over Leitrim, with Tomas Connor and Alan Smyth forced to be content with places on the bench.
Down boss James McCartan has kept faith with the same starting fifteen for tomorrow’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Offaly that defeated Longford last week. Opponents Offaly have had captain Karol Slattery forced out with a hamstring injury and his place is taken in defence by Paul McConway. Positional switches see Brian Connor go to midfield, Niall McNamee switch to centre-forward, John Coughlan go inside to full-forward and Anton Sullivan move across to left corner-forward.
Meanwhile, defensive injury problems has led to Sean Marty Lockhart returning to the Derry squad for tomorrow’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Kildare and he will be on the bench for the Celtic Park tie. Tyrone midfielder Conan Grugan replaces Padraig McNulty in the only change made for Sunday’s Ulster MFC final against Armagh. Galway have made four changes for their Connacht MFC decider against Mayo with Tom Curran, Eoghan Commins, Michael O’Donnell and Conor Rabbitte coming into the team for Ciarán McDonncha, Tom Flynn, Eanna Ó’hOchaidh and Fiach Ó’Bearra.
