Cunningham queries match schedule

FORMER Cork goalkeeper Ger Cunningham believes the GAA may have to alter the scheduling of the Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland U21 hurling championship given the demands on young players.

Cunningham queries match schedule

Cunningham, the Bord Gáis Sports Sponsorship manager, was speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Leinster U21 decider between Dublin and Wexford.

Dublin stars like Liam Rushe, Peter Kelly and Oisin Gough will face three games in seven days, after last Saturday’s All-Ireland senior qualifier against Clare, tomorrow’s U21 clash and next Saturday’s All-Ireland senior qualifier against Antrim. In tomorrow night’s Munster U21 semi-final both Cork and Tipperary have players who will be involved in senior action next weekend as well.
