IT’S very much a case of back to the future for Pat Gilroy this weekend as his determination to mould a new Dublin team has seen four of the old brigade cast aside for today’s All-Ireland qualifier against Tipperary.

Barry Cahill, Bryan Cullen, Tomás Quinn and Conal Keaney have all been relegated to the bench after the Leinster semi-final against Meath for which Gilroy had rowed back on earlier changes and reverted to type.

The cull was widely predicted earlier this week but Gilroy found himself having to reject rumours that Cahill had walked from the squad in protest while dismissing suggestions that Keaney could turn instead to hurling.
