Meehan set to miss clash with Wexford

GALWAY skipper Michael Meehan has been ruled out of Saturday’s All-Ireland qualifier against Wexford and could face several weeks on the sideline.

The 25-year old, just back after being out since March with a serious knee injury, suffered ankle ligament damage in Saturday’s 1-14 to 0-16 Connacht semi-final loss to Sligo.

“I got the injury scanned on Monday and while it is just a sprain it could take a few weeks. I will definitely not play against Wexford and if we get through, I will just have to wait and see for the following week,” said the Caltra clubman.
