Tiger’s Munster final hopes dashed
GAA chiefs had been bracing themselves for the surprise visitor at Fitzgerald Stadium as 14-time major winner Woods looked in danger of missing the halfway cut in the AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
The American is due in this country for next week’s two-day JP McManus Invitational Pro-am at Adare Manor and after an opening, three-over-par 73 and a two-birdie, three-bogey front nine in his second round at Aronimink, Woods seemed poised to make an early exit from his own tournament, which he hosts to benefit his charitable foundation and also salutes the American military in which his late father Earl Woods proudly served.
